BOSTON (WHDH) – A pedestrian was taken to a hospital after the driver of a stolen van crashed into a gate near the Boston Public Garden Thursday night.
Police closed the intersection of Charles Street and Boylston Street around 4:30 pm, where the black truck with severe damage to the front could be seen stopped on the pavement.
Witnesses said a woman was hit by flying debris after the truck crashed into an iron fence and got stuck on the ground.
Boston police said he suffers from fatal injuries.
Several other witnesses said they saw the truck driver flee the scene on foot. Officers have not released a description of the man.

It is not clear what may have caused the accident or where the truck came from.
Police are asking motorists to avoid the area.
