Pension age should be raised to 57; The Pay Reform Commission has recommended that the government intervene in aided recruitment

Thiruvananthapuram: The Salary Reform Commission has recommended raising the pension age to 57. Intervention in aided recruitment is also recommended. A Recruitment Board should be set up for aided school appointments. The full powers of the managements should be changed. The recommendation also states that there may be a management representative on the board.

The final report of the Mohandas Commission also recommended that the Ombudsman should be appointed to oversee the appointment until the Recruitment Board comes into existence. The final report was submitted to the government yesterday. It has also been recommended that the families of those who die while in service should be given a full pension.

The working day of government employees should be reduced to 5 per week. Working hours should be increased. Working hours should be reduced from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm to compensate for the loss of working days. Holidays in the year should be reduced to 12. Local holidays should be allowed only if there are celebrations or other events that affect the lives of the people. Acquisition period should be reduced to 30 years. Employees should be given alternate opportunities for work-from-work.
