People’s Power, MBC’s ‘Kim Geon-hee’s Recording’ applied for an injunction against broadcasting

The People’s Power has applied for an injunction against the second broadcast of MBC in connection with the recording of the phone call of Kim Kun-hee, the spouse of the presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol. MBC’s ‘Straight’ predicted a broadcast on the 23rd of a 7-hour call between Mr. Kim and a reporter from Seoul’s Voice.

In addition, the People’s Power said that it would make a criminal complaint against MBC reporter Jang In-soo, saying that the court had previously banned the broadcast in an interview.

On the 19th, the public affairs team of the People’s Power predecessor headquarters said, “Even though I have informed MBC about the gist and content of the broadcast and asked to guarantee the right to objection, they did not tell me anything about the broadcast outline, topic, content, etc.” It goes against common sense and against the ethics of reporting.” The agency added, “We plan to highlight the fact that we did not guarantee the right to object during the trial of the injunction against broadcasting.”

Regarding reporter Jang, he said, “Even if you rely on the fact that you mentioned it on YouTube first, you cannot escape responsibility.”

“The court trusted MBC to keep the promise made during the trial, and reporter Jang immediately violated the indirect compulsory rule,” the public affairs team said. We have no choice but to be held legally responsible.”

Meanwhile, the People’s Power said, “We strongly urge MBC to organize a fair broadcast on the presidential candidates of the ruling and opposition parties,” and insisted that MBC’s balanced report on the new audio file related to the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, released on the 18th, is necessary.
