Pepper Savings Bank, the youngest member of the V League, recruits experienced setter Lee Go-eun as a free agent

Pepper Savings Bank, the youngest team in the professional volleyball V-League women’s division this season, has shown its limits as well as ambition to reinforce its power in earnest. As the first piece, setter Lee Go-eun was recruited from the free agent market on the 31st. Pepper Savings Bank said, “I signed a three-year contract with Ko-eun for a total compensation of 990 million won (annual salary of 300 million won, options 30 million won).”

Although Lee Go-eun is only 27 years old, she is a setter with a lot of experience. He debuted at the Korea Expressway Corporation in the 2013-2014 season and played as a backup member before the 2016-2017 season, and was traded to IBK Industrial Bank. Before the 2018-2019 season, he transferred the team once more to GS Caltex and played as the main setter, and with another trade for the 2020-2021 season, he returned to his former team’s road construction company and played an active part.

It usually takes a long time for the setter position to be established as a starting member, but Lee Go-eun gained experience as a starting player relatively quickly from an early age. In the process, he was traded a whopping three times, but every team he went to did his part. As a new team, Pepper Savings Bank, which had to quickly establish the foundation of the team, appreciated his experience and quickly recruited him. Pepper Savings Bank, which joined the V-League this season, remained at the bottom of the 7 clubs with 11 points from 3 wins, 28 losses, and 11 points.

After signing the contract with Lee Go-eun, he said, “I am grateful to Pepper Savings Bank for acknowledging my value and showing interest.” Pepper Savings Bank manager Kim Hyung-sil said, “Go-eun is a player who has shown good performances not only in experience but also in defense.
