Permanent membership of the UN Security Council: Russia’s support for India

New York: Russia supports India in getting permanent membership in the UN Security Council. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov came to the venue expressing support for India. Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, the Russian Foreign Minister said that India and Brazil are countries of international importance and should be given permanent membership in the Security Council.

He added that the participation of countries from Africa, Asia and the Latin American continents will make the council more democratic.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has expressed his support for granting permanent membership to India, Japan and Germany. Biden also explained the need to expand the Security Council to include more permanent members and non-permanent representatives.
