Permanently banned from playing Apex Legends on Steam Deck? Is the software included in SteamOS connected | Game * Spark

Popular battle royale shooterApex Legends Accidentally Banned for Play on SteamDecka reported phenomenon.

SteamDeck is a portable gaming computer developed by Valve Corporation. A 7-inch touchscreen display features buttons like analog sticks, as well as trackpads and back buttons. For working titles, indicators are shown as certified, confirmed to work, and unplayable. Among them, “Apex Legends” is listed on the official website as a certified title.

However, according to a post on the foreign bulletin board Reddit, many players who played “Apex Legends” on SteamDeck, including the poster, were wrongly banned from the game.

This problem is believed to be caused by the Proton compatibility software (layer) included in SteamOS installed in SteamDeck. Proton is Valve’s own software that provides the compatibility needed to launch games developed for Windows on Linux-based SteamOS.

This phenomenon seems to have happened since the latest patch for “Apex Legends” was applied, so if you are thinking of playing this work on SteamDeck, it might be wise to wait for more of information.
