[Pick] “It’s okay to rape a Ukrainian woman” Russian soldier and wife’s call “shocked”

The content of a phone call to a Russian soldier dispatched to Ukraine was released, in which his wife said, “It’s okay to rape a Ukrainian woman.”

According to foreign media such as the British Daily Mail on the 12th local time, the Ukrainian Security Agency (SBU) uploaded some of the contents of the intercepted calls of Russian soldiers on the official SNS.

A 32-second recording of the call released by SBU included a conversation between a Russian soldier in Ukraine and his wife in Russia.

The call recording begins with the wife’s words, “Yeah, do it there.” Her wife then bursts into laughter, saying, “There are Ukrainian women over there. To rape them. Don’t tell me anything. Okay?”

When the husband asked, “So you’re saying it’s okay to rape me, so don’t just tell me?” the wife laughed again, saying, “Yeah, I just don’t know. Why are you asking?”

At this, the husband also laughed and said, “Is it really okay?”, and the wife said, “Yes, I will. Be sure to use birth control instead.” The call ends when the husband replies, “Okay.”

SBU said “no further explanation is needed for this transcript of the call.”

“The interception shows that 80% of Russian military families support the invasion of Ukraine,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the Russian-occupied Ukraine region, victims of sexual assault continue.

Katerina Cherepaka, president of the Ukrainian human rights group La Strada Ukraine, said at a UN Security Council meeting on the 11th, “Nine cases of sexual assault involving the Russian military have been reported, but these are only the tip of the iceberg.” “The military is using the sexual assault of Ukrainian civilians as a weapon of war.”

“Reports of sexual offenses by the Russian military are increasing rapidly,” said Shima Bajos, director-general of the UN Women’s Organization. “An independent investigation is needed to achieve justice and hold the perpetrators accountable.”
