The professional football Pohang Steelers failed to reclaim the top of Asia in 12 years.
Pohang lost 0-2 to Al Hilal FC in the final of the ‘2021 AFC Champions League’ held at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the 24th at 1 am (Korean time).
Pohang took the initiative by conceding the lead on a mid-range shot by Nasser Al-Dausari unexpectedly from 30m in about 20 seconds from the start of the game.
In the 18th minute, Al Hilal’s Moussa Marega allowed an additional and final goal in a situation where they could not score a goal, and in the end, they fell to their knees 0-2.
Pohang had to be content with giving Al Hilal the honor of their 4th championship and receiving $2.5 million (about 2.97 billion won) as the runner-up prize.
