From 8:10 a.m. on the 19th, the Violent Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency sent investigators to five offices of the KCTU and three offices of the construction industry union of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions to obtain data related to the operation and accounting of unions. .

The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions has a North Seoul Gyeonggi Branch in Yangpyeong-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and its affiliated offices in the Southwest, Northwest, Southeast and Northeast Zones. The Seoul and Gyeonggi Branches of the rebar business group was included in the search and seizure targets.

Police are also executing search warrants by sending investigators to eight union officials’ residences.

It is known that the police launched an investigation after receiving information that these unions had committed illegal acts such as forcing them to hire members in construction sites, such as building new flats, or demanding money and valuables if they did not hire them.
