Kochi: In a case of molestation of a newcomer actress, the police have started moving to bring back producer and actor Vijay Babu to India. An attempt was made to confiscate the passport of Vijay Babu who entered Dubai. Vijay Babu had entered Goa on the 22nd after receiving a complaint. On the 24th he reached Bangalore and was on his way to Dubai. Police have collected his emigration details.
Diplomatic measures are needed to bring him back to the country. If Vijay Babu refuses to co-operate with the investigation, he will file an application for revocation of his passport and visa, police said. It is learned that the actor is trying to avoid this situation. He is likely to surrender only after a decision is made on his preliminary bail application on May 16. Police are continuing to investigate the locations mentioned in the complainant’s statement. The statements of 8 people, including those in the film industry and hotel staff, were recorded. Police are also gathering evidence that Vijay Babu tried to influence and pressure the survivor. Complainant’s statement was recorded and the medical examination was completed. Witness testimony and examination are ongoing.
Police received footage of the accused arriving at hotels and flats with the complainant. Based on this, the police conducted evidence gathering at all the places where it was found that the accused had come with the newcomer actress. According to police, the couple had visited five places, including a luxury hotel and flat in Kadavanthara. According to the complaint, the victim was tortured in five places from March 13 to April 14.
Meanwhile, the probe team was informed that the film producer Vijay Babu, the accused in the case, was informed soon after receiving the complaint at the Ernakulam South police station in the case of torturing the newcomer actress. The Special Branch also launched a parallel investigation to find out how the information was leaked.
