PowerX, which aims to complete the first electric carrier in 2025, announced on June 25 that it will build Japan’s largest storage battery assembly plant “Power Base” in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture.

The new plant will manufacture stationary storage batteries, EV quick chargers, marine batteries, and household storage batteries that the company is developing. Test production will begin in 2023, and product shipments will begin in the spring of 2024.

The site area is 28,272m2. The annual production capacity is up to 5GWh, which is equivalent to about 10,000 storage battery products per year. Manufacture high-quality and inexpensive products through automated production. In addition to the production function, a research and development center and office space will be installed on the premises.

In May, PowerX raised a capital increase of 4.15 billion yen from Nippon Gas, Imabari Shipbuilding, and NYK Line through a third-party allotment, and a part of the funds will be used for the construction of a new factory. ..
