Precht accuses Annalena Baerbock of “confrontational foreign policy”.

Richard David Precht apparently thinks little of Annalena Baerbock. In a podcast, the philosopher violently attacks the Foreign Minister.

The philosopher Richard David Precht made disparaging remarks about Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens). In the “Lanz & Precht” podcast, he said in an interview with Markus Lanz: “What an accident that this woman became Foreign Minister. Under normal conditions, she would not even have gotten an internship at the Foreign Office.”

The philosopher accuses Baerbock of wanting to use the “moral fervor of a class representative” to explain Western values to a world power like China. Their value-based foreign policy is in reality a “confrontation-based foreign policy,” Precht continued.

He calls on Baerbock to “just bake small rolls” and to say to himself: “As long as we are economically successful in Germany, the Chinese will take everything we do seriously.” However, if Germany allowed itself to be drawn more and more into the confrontation and if the bridges to China were torn down, then the German economy would go down the drain, according to Precht.

The philosopher’s statements sparked heated discussions online. While some users agreed with Precht, there was clear criticism from Baerbock’s party: “What can #Precht do? Above all, why can he judge who can #Foreign Minister?” Green politician Renate Künast asked on Twitter. She accused him of male superiority and arrogance.

SPD politician Sawsan Chebli also criticized Precht for his statements. “He is a vain man who is looking for attention and apparently cannot bear that a strong woman with a clear profile is German Foreign Minister,” she wrote on Twitter.
