Preparations for construction of temple in Mathura begin: UP Deputy Chief Minister | temple in Mathura | tweet

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister has said that preparations are underway to build a temple in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Temples are under construction in Ayodhya and Kashi. Preparations are in progress in Mathura – Keshav Prasad Maurya tweeted. The Deputy Chief Minister’s statement comes as the anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid draws near.

Maurya’s tweet came after the All India Hindu Mahasabha announced its withdrawal of its rally in Mathura. Shahi Idgah Mosque is located close to what is considered to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna. After the rally, the Hindu Mahasabha decided to erect an idol of Krishna at Shahi Idgah and perform some poojas.

A petition filed last year in a civil court in Mathura seeking recovery of Krishna Janmabhoomi was rejected. The petition also alleges that the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb demolished part of the Krishna temple. The petition also sought the relocation of a Muslim shrine near the temple.

UP police have stated that no mob will be allowed in Mathura on the anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid. A ban has been announced on the spot. Uttar Pradesh is all set to go to the polls early next year.
