President Moon also proposed a visit to North Korea to Pope Francis during his visit to the Vatican in 2018.

Pope Francis responded, “If you send me an invitation, I will gladly go to help you and for peace.

“President Moon confirmed the Pope’s continued support for peace on the Korean Peninsula through an exclusive meeting with Pope Francis,” Park said.

In addition, President Moon and Pope Francis exchanged views on global issues facing humanity, such as COVID-19 and climate change, the Blue House said.

Following the meeting with Pope Francis, President Moon also had a meeting with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.
