President Moon: “The plan to relocate the new government’s office is not very good”

President Moon Jae-in said, “I don’t think the new government’s plan to relocate the office is very reasonable.”

In a special interview with former anchor Sohn Seok-hee (‘Interviewer – 5 Years of Moon Jae-in’), which was broadcast on JTBC on the 26th, President Moon said, “May 10, in a time of regime change, where security is heightening without accommodating public opinion everywhere. “It is dangerous to start working,” he said.

However, he said, “As the new government has a will and is pursuing it as if it were the No. 1 national project, it cannot cause conflicts between the old and the old powers. None,” he added.

When asked, “Is it a matter of the previous time and place?” he said, “I promised the Gwanghwamun presidential era during the presidential election, and what I envisioned was to move the presidential office and secretariat to the Gwanghwamun government building.” “The concept was that if the Ministry of Public Administration and Security moved to Sejong City, they could enter the space, and the Blue House would use it when necessary even after it was opened to the public, such as the main building or guesthouse, or the heliport, underground bunker, and crisis management center,” he said.

President Moon said that it is different from President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol’s plan to move everything.

When asked, ‘Have you ever thought that you would have forced the relocation to Gwanghwamun?’, he said, “I think I made a very good decision without being bound by promises.”

Regarding the reason, he said, “At the time of the Park Geun-hye administration, there was an image of the Blue House as the ‘Gujung Palace’, but before the Corona 19 epidemic, I actively visited the site and communicated directly with the people, and the image of the Gujung Palace disappeared. It can lead to cost and administrative confusion, so when I asked if it was worth the risk, I decided it wasn’t and it was the right decision.”
