President Yoon Seok-yeol said on the 5th, “We intend to open a new era in bilateral relations by establishing a comprehensive and strategic partnership between Korea and Vietnam.”

President Yoon made this comment in a joint press release after a summit meeting with Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who was visiting Korea, at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul on the afternoon of the same day.

First, President Yoon said, “We will strengthen strategic communication,” and explained, “The two countries will cooperate to establish regional peace and stability, and we have decided to review ways to improve the effectiveness of the current diplomatic and security strategic dialogue. and develop it.” he did

“The government will support Vietnam to strengthen its maritime law enforcement capabilities to contribute to maritime security in the region,” he said. “We will expand defense industry cooperation with Vietnam.”

In addition, President Yoon said, “The two countries are already optimal partners in trade and investment.”

Regarding various cooperation documents signed between the two countries, President Yoon said, “I expect that the horizon of cooperation between the two countries will be expanded by dealing with key economic and security issues.”

“Cooperation in the high-tech industry sector by stabilizing the supply chain is also important,” said President Yoon.

In addition, he explained, “Along with the establishment of a mutually beneficial supply chain, we will further strengthen cooperation in the fields of finance, information and communication, advanced technology, infrastructure construction, and energy.”

“Vietnam is our biggest development cooperation partner,” said President Yoon.

In particular, he stressed, “The Korea-Vietnam Science and Technology Institute, recently completed in Hanoi, is the cradle of science and technology cooperation between the two countries. We will also actively consider supporting the establishment of a disease prevention and control center in Vietnam.”

President Yoon said, “We will spare no support at the government level to promote the rights and interests of the people of the two countries, as well as promote exchange.”

“Vietnam is a key partner in our Indo-Pacific Strategy and Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative,” he said. “Korea and Vietnam will always work together to promote freedom, peace and prosperity in the region.”

“North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missiles are the most urgent threats in the region,” President Yoon said.

President Yoon introduced, “We asked President Phuc for support to hold the 2030 World Expo in Busan, and President Phuc replied that he would consider it positively.”
