(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Hong Ji-in = Prime Minister Han Deok-soo said on the 19th, “If such a situation arises, we will consider (expressing an opinion)” in relation to observing President Yoon’s exercise Seok-yeol of veto power over the so-called ‘special prosecutor Kim Gun-hee’.

Prime Minister Han answered a question about the government in the National Assembly on the same day, when Representative Kim Seung-won of the Democratic Party of Korea asked, “If the Special Prosecution Act is passed, the president will probably consider whether he should exercise the veto, but shouldn’t the prime minister have a say too?”

When Rep. Kim pointed out that there is a high public opinion that a special prosecutor is needed, he said, “I don’t think it’s appropriate to say something about a specific issue related to an investigation based on opinion polls.” “I believe it should be conducted in a neutral way and will continue.”

Prime Minister Han said, “I don’t have any information about such specific matters well,” and said, “I don’t know well because all these aspects are related to the investigation and trial process, but I don’t know about such matters.” I don’t think it’s appropriate to do that,” he said.
