Prince Andrew ‘excluded’ from social media allegations of sexual assault

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jong-seok Yoon = Britain’s Prince Andrew, who is accused of sexually assaulting a minor, is being kicked out of social media after he was recently stripped of his office.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 20th (local time) that Prince Andrew’s Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube channels have not been accessed since this afternoon.

When I try to access his Twitter account with the profile ‘Duke of York’, I get the message ‘The account does not exist’.

A YouTube spokesperson said Prince Andrew’s YouTube account had been deleted by the account owner.

His Facebook account is still alive, but his most recent post was from 2020.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said, “We are deleting the social media channel as Prince Andrew no longer holds all royal offices and does not use the title ‘His royal highness’.”

Queen Elizabeth’s second son, Prince Andrew, is accused of sexually assaulting a minor with US billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, and is awaiting trial in New York this fall.

Virginia Jupre, an American victim of Epstein’s minor sexual exploitation, claims she was sexually assaulted by Prince Andrew in the United States and Britain in 2001 when she was 17.

Prince Andrew denies all charges.

The British royal family stripped him of his military title and the title of His Highness last week.

Prince Andrew will face trial in the United States as a civilian, Buckingham Palace said.

Although he is excluded from royal duties, he is still the British Prince, Duke of York and ninth in the line of succession, the WSJ reported.
