Vadakancherry (Palakkad) സ്വകാര്യ Private buses started plying at Panniyankara toll plaza without paying toll. The buses started running from this morning. Private bus owners and workers on the Thrissur-Palakkad and Thrissur-Govindapuram routes have been on strike for the past 28 days in protest of the exorbitant toll rates.

The strike was called off after the contract company and the National Highways Authority were not even ready for talks. Remya Haridas MP and PP Sumod MLA reached the toll plaza and raised the barrier with the protesters and allowed the vehicles to cross.

The bus service was resumed by the Samyuktha Samara Samithi after the bus strike continued unabated. Despite the presence of the police, the Toll Plaza authorities did not stop the buses.
