Professor Dae-Jin Kim, pianist, appointed as the 9th president of Ye-Jong Han

Daejin Kim, a pianist and music educator, was appointed as the president of the Korea National University of Arts (hereafter, Han Ye-jong), a professor at the Conservatory of Music. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 25th that Professor Kim, who served as the director of the Conservatory, was appointed as the ninth president, Ye-jong Han. The term of office of the President, which begins on the 26th, is four years.

New President Kim made his name on the international stage by winning the first prize at the Robert Kazadju International Piano Competition (now Cleveland Competition) in 1985 while he was a student at the Juilliard Conservatory in the United States. Since 1994, right after the opening of Han Ye-jong, he served as a professor at the Conservatory, where he directly taught famous pianists such as Kim Seon-wook, Son Yeol-eum, Lee Jin-sang, and Moon Ji-young. In the 2000s, he also worked as a conductor. He served as the artistic director of the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Changwon Philharmonic Orchestra. Han Ye-jong announced on the 25th, “Last June, we elected the president through the first direct election system in which all members, including students, participated.” According to the election results, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism was finally appointed.
