In addition, there was pressure from the elected President-elect Oh-su Kim to resign.

In response, President Oh-su Kim made a short official statement today, saying, “I will faithfully carry out my mission.”

He made it clear that he had no intention of backing down on his own despite the all-round offensive of the elected side.

First, reporter Yoon Su-han reports.

“The Prosecutor General will faithfully carry out his duties in accordance with the law and principles.”

Prosecutor General Kim Oh-su dismissed the ‘controversy over his resignation’ surrounding him in a short one-line statement this morning.

When Rep. Kwon Seong-dong, who is known as Yoon Seok-yeol’s ‘double heart’, appeared on TV and urged him to make a decision, he broke through the front in one day.

“I think that President Kim Oh-soo should decide on his own path.”

It is interpreted that the remarks, which came out six days after the election, refused to press for a ‘mid-term resignation’ in order to prevent the wave of remarks from spreading inside the prosecution.

The Prosecutor’s Office Act guarantees the president’s term of office for two years since 1988 for the political neutrality of the prosecution.

President Kim, who took office in June last year, has one year and three months remaining.

So far, only eight out of 22 presidents have fulfilled their tenure, but it is unusual for the elected president to publicly press for the resignation of the prosecutor general at a time when the ruling and opposition governments are changing.

Former President Im Chae-jin, the last president of the Roh Moo-hyun administration, remained in office for over a year after the change of government.

In addition, former President Kim Su-nam of the Park Geun-hye administration resigned after an investigation into former President Park, who had the authority to appoint him, stating that “there was no pressure from the new government.”

Rep. Kwon Seong-dong drew the line that the remarks about President Kim were personal thoughts, but Kwon Young-se, vice chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee and Kim Ki-hyun, floor leader of the People’s Power, also joined the pressure on President Kim through media interviews.

In particular, despite President Oh-soo Kim’s prompt statement of position, President-elect Yoon did not make any comments, so the spark of conflict is still there.
