Modryb, 76, CEO of the Hamilton Hotel, who is accused of causing damage to the ‘Itaewon disaster’ with illegal extensions, was transferred to a trial without reserve.

The Seoul Western District Prosecutor’s Office announced on the 27th that it had charged Mr. Lee, who was charged with breaching the Building Act and the Roads Act, was not detained.

Mr. Lee is accused of building an illegal structure around the main building of the Hamilton Hotel and of occupying the road without permission.

Prosecutors also ordered two hotel tenants, including CEO Frost on the first floor of the hotel annex, as well as one hotel operating corporation and one rental corporation, on the same charges.

The National Police Agency’s Special Investigation Headquarters (special version), which investigated the Itaewon disaster, originally handed it over to the prosecution on charges that Mr Lee and the hotel’s operating corporation had illegally set up a temporary building while recognized as illegal.

However, as a result of the prosecution’s investigation, it was ruled that Lee and the corporation had no intention of temporarily neglecting the building, and they were cleared of charges.
