Dong-gyu Yoo, the former head of the planning division of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, who was arrested after being pointed out as a key figure in the Daejang-dong development lobbying case, asked the court to reconsider whether he was arrested, but it was not accepted.

The Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Cases Division 8-3 (Chief Judge Jang Yoon-sun, Kim Ye-young, and Jang Seong-hak) dismissed Yoo’s request for detention on the 19th.

The court explained, “It is recognized that the issuance of an arrest warrant is legal and it is necessary to continue the arrest.”

Former general manager Yoo is accused of not including a clause on the return of excess profits when designing the profit distribution structure, causing huge profits to return to private businesses, causing damage to Seongnam City, and receiving 800 million won, including 500 million won, from Hwacheon Daeyu as bribes. was arrested on the 3rd of this month.

In response, Yoo’s side denies all allegations, saying that he had never received a bribe, and that there was no fraudulent act such as manipulation or deletion of provisions for extorting excess profits when selecting the consortium.

Former general manager Yoo requested an arrest trial the day before, and appeared at the interrogation that took place for an hour from 2:20 pm on the same day. A detention trial is a procedure in which a detained suspect contests the legality of detention and seeks another judgment from the court.

At the interrogation on the same day, the lawyer is known to have argued that there was a problem with the constitution of the law regarding the alleged breach of trust, which caused at least 110 billion won in damages to the city of Seongnam, and that the amount of breach calculated by the prosecution was not accurate.

In relation to the bribery allegations, it was reported that the prosecution had to prove in detail whether the money was actually sent or not and whether the money was paid for.

Meanwhile, the prosecution plans to indict former general manager Yoo during the week on charges of breach of trust under the Special Administrative Price Act. Initially, the detention period expired on the 20th, but due to the lack of detention, the period was extended by two more days, and the expiration date is 22 days.

The indictment of former general manager Yoo will be the first case since the launch of the investigation team on the 29th of last month.
