Prosecutors, who are investigating allegations of lobbying and preferential treatment in Daejang-dong, seized and searched Seongnam City Hall for nearly 11 hours on the 15th.

The investigation team in charge of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office secured investigation data from departments related to the Daejang-dong development project, such as the Seongnam City Hall Urban Housing Bureau, Education, Culture and Sports Bureau, Culture City Project Group, and Information and Communication Division from around 9:00 am to 7:40 pm that day.

In the search and seizure warrant, the prosecution pointed out charges of breach of trust and bribes under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes by Yoo Dong-gyu, former head of the planning division of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, and Kim Man-bae, a major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management, as well as bribery of Rep. Kwak Sang-do and violation of the Political Funds Act. .

Seongnam City, as the management and supervision agency of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, was in charge of approval and licensing of various projects related to the Daejang-dong development project.

After analyzing the data obtained from Seongnam City Hall, the prosecution plans to call public officials involved in the Daejang-dong development project for investigation.

As the prosecution raided Seongnam City, an investigation into Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung, then mayor of Seongnam, became inevitable. Lee Jung-soo, chief of the Central District Prosecutors’ Office, said in a parliamentary audit the day before that Lee was included in the investigation category.
