Prosecutors summon Yoon Woo-jin, former head of Yongsan Tax Office, for bribery allegations

Prosecutors, who are re-investigating the allegation of bribery by Yoon Woo-jin, former chief of Yongsan Tax Office, summoned Yoon to investigate.

The 13th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office summoned and investigated former Chief Yoon, who is suspected of bribery, as a suspect today (26th).

Yoon, the former chief of the police, fled overseas after being on the police investigation line in 2012 on charges of receiving bribes, such as golf entertainment, from meat importers.

Afterwards, he was arrested in Thailand and forcibly repatriated, but the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, who took over the case, dismissed the charges against Yoon.

At that time, the Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office Chief Prosecutor Yoon Seok-yeol was a presidential candidate for the People’s Power, and former Chief Yoon was the older brother of Yoon Dae-jin, the head of the planning department at the Legal Research and Training Institute, a close aide to Yoon.

When suspicions arose that the prosecution deliberately covered up the case of Yoon, Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae exercised the power of investigation last year, and the prosecution began a re-investigation of the case.
