Mr. Songpol Cheewapanyarot Director of the Deposit Protection Agency revealed that from August 11, 2021, depositors in financial institutions under the Deposit Protection Law will receive deposit protection under the Deposit Protection Law In the amount not exceeding 1 million baht per 1 depositor per financial institution This is the limit specified by law. The coverage limit is 1 million baht. There are 82.07 million depositors who receive full deposit protection, representing 98.03% of depositors in the entire system. which is considered the majority of the people of the country
As of May 31, 2021, there were 83.72 million depositors in the financial institutions under the protection of the institution as compared to the end of last year. It was found that the number of depositors increased by 1,337,334, or an increase of 1.62%. Most of the increase in depositors were retail depositors whose deposits did not exceed 1 million baht, accounting for 97 percent of the increase in depositors. and protected deposits totaled 15.28 trillion baht, an increase of 347,940 million baht or 2.33 percent from the end of last year.
The Deposit Protection Agency (DPA) or DPA plays an important role in protecting deposits for both natural and corporate depositors. The depositor will receive the deposit back within 30 days according to the limit set by law.
