Katana attack on passengers on Bathery-Gundalpet road. The passengers escaped with their heads cut off. The Bandipur Tiger Reserve was attacked on the 9th of this month. The elephant was driving one of the youths when he parked the car on the roadside and went out to take a photo. The young man escaped as he ran fast and got back into the vehicle. The young man was seen falling while trying to get into the vehicle.
No parking or photographing is allowed in the tiger sanctuary. However, the forest department said that the attack took place because the youths stood firm despite seeing the elephant. They were then detained at a nearby check post, fined Rs 15,000 and released with a warning.
