Qatar has Mane, no Salah: Senegal beat Egypt

African champions Senegal have qualified for the World Cup. Mann and his team qualified for the World Cup in Qatar by beating Egypt in a penalty shootout in the second quarter of the play-offs. Senegal won the match by one goal, but the score was 1-1 in both quarters and the match ended in a penalty.

Self-goal was the villain for Egypt, who took a one-goal lead in the first quarter. That too started the game in the fourth minute. Senegal took the lead through an own goal by Hamti Fati. Neither team was able to move the net later. The match was extended to extra time as they moved to an aggregate of 1-1 at full time.

But neither team was able to find the back of the net in extra time. The match then went to a penalty. Colombali, who took the first penalty for Senegal, missed a shot and bounced back at the bar. But Mohamed Salah missed the next penalty to seize the opportunity. Shot out through the top of the bar.

Again opportunities. Senegal head to Qatar after scoring the final kick. The goalkeeper, who saved three penalties, also helped Senegal qualify for the World Cup. It was doubly sweet for the African champions, Senegal.
