Doha: Qatar is second on the list of the least polluted countries in the Middle East. The list was released by Transparency International. Qatar came second in the Middle East and North Africa region with 58 points.
UAE is the first in the region. The ranking is based on 0 points for the most corrupt country and 100 points for the least corrupt country. There are a total of 180 countries on the list. Qatar is ranked 40th globally. The criteria for grading are corruption in the public sector and the mechanisms to prevent it.
The countries of Syria, Yemen and Libya are lagging behind in the region.
