Qatar to temporarily suspend visitor entry

The Ministry of Interior announces a ban on visitor visas to Qatar during the World Cup. Officials said visitor visas, including on arrival, will not be granted between November 1 and December 23. During the World Cup, fans will be allowed to enter Qatar via HayaCard. It is estimated that around 15 lakh football fans will come.

But after December 23, entry via visitor visa will be normal, officials said. HAYA card holders, who will be allowed to enter the country from November 1, can stay in Qatar for more than a month after the World Cup. All they have to do is return by January 23, 2023.

Meanwhile, Qatari nationals, residents and GCC nationals with a Qatari ID will be allowed to enter the country without a Haya card during the World Cup. There are no barriers to entry for those arriving on work permits and individual recruitment visas. Those who are approved through the official platform on the basis of special humanitarian considerations will also be allowed to enter the country during this period.
