Doha: The Qatari Ministry of Health has announced a new travel policy for people from countries that have been placed on a special red list in the wake of reports of a new variant of the COVID, the Omicron virus, in some African countries. The revised rules apply to people from countries including Botswana, Egypt, Swatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The changes will take effect on December 1

The new terms are a seven-day home or hotel quarantine for citizens, a seven-day hotel quarantine for GCC citizens and a two-day hotel and five-day quarantine for expatriates. Seven-day quarantine for Qatari citizens

A seven-day home quarantine is mandatory for Qatari nationals from countries on the special red list. Those interested can also stay at Hotel Quarantine. Before leaving for Qatar, you need a PCR negative certificate taken within 72 hours. There is no age limit for PCR test. GCC: Seven days hotel quarantine
