Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 running points out, performance can not even match Apple M1

Online rumors claim that Qualcomm is secretly developing follow-up products to the Snapdragon 8cx series. We can see from the GeekBench running database data that the codename of this processor is “SC8280”.

It is speculated that the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor will use “Gold” and “Gold+” cores to replace the current combination of efficiency and performance cores. The advantages and disadvantages of the new combination are obvious. The advantage is that it can get better performance, but the disadvantage is that it will sacrifice some endurance performance.

Now we can see a device called “Lenovo QRD” in the GeekBench running sub-library. It is likely to be a device equipped with a Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor. “QRD” may be the abbreviation of “Qualcomm Reference Device”, which means a test device sold by Qualcomm to partners.

However, judging from the results of the running scores, even the Apple M1 processor can’t beat the performance, and the gap is very large.

From the list of GeekBench, you can also see that Qualcomm’s identifier is “ARMv8 (64-bit) Family 8 Model D4B”. This identifier is different from any other processors on the market that can be used for Windows on ARM. Determined to be Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3.

Some technology media speculated that the benchmark device was equipped with a “Gold+” core, which was first exposed in early 2021, saying that its basic clock was at least 2.69Ghz.
