Queen, a footballer who wrote history; The first transgender to win a medal at the Olympics

TOKYO: Canadian footballer Kyun has become the first transgender person to win a medal at the Olympics. Kyun made history by winning gold with the Canadian team in women’s football in Tokyo. Canada’s gold medalists beat Sweden in a penalty shootout in the final.

The 25-year-old Queen is a Canadian midfielder. Kyun, who played 69 matches for the national team, was a member of the team that won bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics. But at the time, Queen did not reveal her transgender identity.

Transgender athletes have been allowed to compete in the Olympics since 2004. Laurel Hubbard, a New Zealander who competed in weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics, is also transgender. Laurel also holds the record for being the first trans woman to compete in the Olympics.
