South Africa’s wicketkeeper – batsman Quinton de Kok has announced his retirement from Test cricket following his defeat in the first Test at Centurion in the India – South Africa Test series. De Kok, 29, has announced his retirement to spend time with his family.

‘I made this decision after much thought. I had a good idea of ​​what my future should look like. He also wondered why he should give priority in life. Now Sasha and I are going to welcome the first baby into the family. Family is all about me. We want to be with them and spend time with them as we begin a new chapter in our lives, ”said De Kok.

He had earlier announced that he would not play in the second and third Tests of the series against India due to his wife’s childbirth. But he has now made it clear that he will never return to Test cricket. Despite retiring from Test cricket, De Kok has made it clear that he will continue to play for South Africa in the ODI and Twenty20 formats.

Decock has played 54 Tests so far, scoring 3300 runs at an average of 38.82. The strike rate is 70.94. De Kok has scored six centuries and 22 fifties in Tests.
