LondonSomerset pacer Jack Brooks has apologized for calling Indian Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara “Steve”. In 2012, while playing for Yorkshire, Brookies racially abused Pujara by calling him Steve.

Two incidents came to light as Brooks racially abused her. One is that he used the word racist when speaking to English pacers Timel Mills and Stuart Loudet. Pujara was called Steve a second time.

Enter nickname routine in dressing rooms

The language used in my two tweets in 2012 is unacceptable. I apologize for using such words, Brooks says in the statement. It is common in dressing rooms to give nicknames when many players have trouble pronouncing their names. It’s not about racism. But Brooke said he now accepts that doing so is wrong.

I apologize if I have abused Pujara or his family in any way. I told him that. I did not take this as racist behavior. But now I recognize it as behavior that should not be accepted.
