Bhopal: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday slammed former chief minister Kamal Nath for calling Madhya Pradesh minister and BJP’s Dalit women candidate Imarthi Devi a ‘tool’ during an election campaign meeting. ‘Kamal Nath is a colleague in the party. But I personally do not approve of the kind of language he used. It is unfortunate ‘- Rahul said in a press conference in Wayanad.
Kamal Nath said in Bhopal that he regretted the action he took after this. ‘I did not use disrespect to anyone. The BJP is spreading misconceptions about it, ”Kamal Nath said. However, Kamal Nath added that he was not ready to apologize and that what Rahul had said was his opinion.
Kamal Nath asked BJP candidate Imarthi from Gwalior’s Dabra constituency, ‘What kind of stuff are they?’ Imarthi was a member of the Kamal Nath cabinet and joined the BJP along with Jyotiraditya Scindia and became a minister. Now, he is contesting the by-election.
The BJP has made Kamal Nath’s statement a campaign issue. The National Commission for Women also sent a notice to Kamal Nath.
