Thiruvananthapuram: Chairman and director Ranjith Kowal at the closing stage of IFFK. When he got up to speak, Ranjith was booed by the audience. He responded that shouting is not possible and that this is not new.
Kowal arrived at the venue expecting a crowd. His wife was also told she would have a heart attack. They said they would enjoy it together. This trend is not new. Ranjith said that he had gone through many similar experiences since the time of SFI in 1977.
Earlier some controversies had arisen among IFFK. The debate was about keeping the film. The protest over the retention of the Mammootty film Nan Pagal Mayakam had reached a fever pitch.
