A passenger, who was in the car with Jang when he was caught in the crackdown, was transferred without detention on charges of aiding driving without a license under the Road Traffic Act and is currently under investigation by the prosecution.
Prosecutors applied the “Yun Chang-ho Act,” which stipulates that anyone caught twice or more for drunk driving or not complying with a breathalyzer test shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than 2 years and not more than 5 years, or a fine of not less than 10 million won and not more than 20 million won.
Jang was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and 2 years of probation at the Seoul Western District Court in June of last year after being handed over to trial for colliding a motorcycle while driving drunk in Mapo-gu, Seoul in September 2019.
