President Yoon Seok-yeol greeted reporters with a bright smile at the presidential office on the way to work.

“(Question) Are you ready?”

When the question ‘Isn’t the president’s talent pool narrow?’, ‘The prosecution’s biased personnel appointments are being repeated’, he immediately stopped laughing and poured out his remarks.

“In the past, people from Minbyon didn’t do a lot of paperwork. People with experience (judicial law in the United States) are entering politics very widely. Isn’t that the rule of law?”

At the time of the Moon Jae-in administration, Supreme Court Justice Kim Sun-sun and Vice Minister of Justice Lee Yong-koo, etc., were recruited in large numbers from the ‘lawyers for a democratic society’ to refute the criticism of the prosecution’s bias towards him.

In addition, Lee Bok-hyeon, the new head of the Financial Supervisory Service, who was criticized for his lack of expertise in the financial field as an aide and former prosecutor, was proudly praised as “a very suitable person.”

“I think I am a very suitable person because I majored in economics and accounting, and I am an expert in financial supervision regulation and market research.”

He further emphasized that the Financial Supervisory Service and the Fair Trade Commission are regulatory oversight bodies, which are rather appropriate places for those dealing with law enforcement to demonstrate their capabilities.

In response, the Democratic Party raised its voice, saying, “We have become a saber-toothed state rather than a rule of law, and the new nation of people that President Yoon spoke of in his inaugural address was a new country of prosecutors.”

In particular, Minbyun criticized it as an inappropriate comparison, saying it was a social organization rather than a state institution like the prosecution.

“What kind of state or power is Minbyun? It’s up to you to do it differently (from the previous government).

In the midst of this, President Yoon and former prosecutor Kang Sue-jin, known for their ‘carpool relationship’ on their way to and from work, were excluded from the list of candidates for the Fair Trade Commission, the presidential office said.

It is known that the internal policy has been withdrawn as criticism of the prosecution’s bias has grown.

However, it is expected that President Yoon will continue to maintain his personnel style that respects former prosecutors in a broad framework.
