Recommendation of ‘complementary construction, compensation for damages’ for noise measurement between floors from August

From August 4, after the completion of the apartment building, the ‘Inter-Floor Noise Post-Confirmation System’, which checks the noise blocking performance between floors, will be implemented, and noise standards will be strengthened.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced the ‘Regulations and Rules for Housing Construction Standards, etc.’ and ‘Standards for Recognition and Management of Structures for Blocking Impact Sound in Apartment Houses’, respectively, with a legislative notice and administrative notice.

From now on, business owners of apartment complexes, such as apartments, must perform a performance test to check the floor impact sound blocking performance before receiving approval for use after completion, and submit the results to the inspection agency.

If the standards are not met, supplementary construction or compensation for damages will be recommended.

A business operator recommended for supplementary construction or compensation for damages must prepare and submit an action plan within 10 days and report the result of the action.

The standard for floor impact noise that causes inter-floor noise is reinforced by lowering the light weight from 58 dB to 49 dB and the heavy impact sound from 50 dB to 49 dB by 1 dB, respectively.
