Red alert lifted, red alert lifted, orange alert issued in seven districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Temporary relief for rains in the state. The clouds over Kerala and over the Arabian Sea are not visible in today’s satellite imagery. However, meteorologists forecast heavy rains in Kerala in the coming hours and days.

The red alert announced in five districts was withdrawn in the afternoon rain warning. Currently, there are Orange Alert in seven districts. The orange alert was issued in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. No rain warning for Palakkad and Wayanad Yellow alert for all other districts.

Meanwhile, the Central Meteorological Department confirmed that the monsoon had reached the Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is currently moving towards the Kerala coast across the southern part of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The monsoon will arrive in Sri Lanka and later in the Maldives in the coming days. The Central Meteorological Department has forecast monsoon in Kerala till May 27. Private meteorologist Skymet predicts that the monsoon will arrive in Kerala on May 26. It will be clear after that how much rain will fall during the monsoon.

The current rainfall in Kerala is due to the cyclone cyclone near Lakshadweep. Currently there is no change in the rain forecast for five days. “Some districts are likely to receive more rains,” Dr Sathi Devi, head of the National Weather Service Mission, told Asianet News. Another cyclone is reported off the coast of Tamil Nadu in the Bay of Bengal.

Private meteorologist Rajeev Erikkulam said that Kerala has received an additional 107 mm of rainfall in the last one week. May 10 to 16 Normal rainfall was 42.6 mm but received 149.9 mm. The highest rainfall this year is 24 hours from 8.30 am on May 14 to 8.30 am on May 15. With 15 days left until the official end of the summer monsoon season, the full-season rainfall (361.5 mm) has been surpassed (430.2 mm).

Heavy rains wreak havoc in the state –

Thiruvananthapuram: A fisherman died when his boat sank at Anchuthengu in Thiruvananthapuram. The search is continuing for the man who went missing yesterday in Amayizhanchan stream. The westerly winds are blowing in the Arabian Sea under the influence of the cyclone which is hovering over South Karnataka. As a result, heavy or heavy rains will continue till Friday. The fishing ban will remain in place as strong winds of between 40 kmph and 50 kmph are expected.

Meanwhile, a fisherman died when his boat capsized in the Anchuthengu sea in Thiruvananthapuram. Babu, a native of Anchuthengu Puthenman Lakshmanveedu colony, died. The two who were with him swam away and escaped. The search is on for Suresh, who drowned in a tortoise creek at 4 pm yesterday. Relief centers opened in the disaster area. Taluk-based control rooms were opened in areas where it rained heavily for two days. Travel bans to hilly, landslide-prone and tourist destinations continue.

The Collector said that the tourism centers in Thrissur district have been temporarily closed due to the possibility of heavy rains. For the time being, tourists will not be allowed to enter all the centers under the district tourism.
