Red Bull F1 and Juri Vips appointed as FP1 of F1 Spanish Grand Prix[F1-Gate .com]

Red Bull Racing will appoint junior driver Juri Vips for the first free run of the 2022 F1 Round 6 Spanish Grand Prix.

In 2022, F1 will require all 10 teams to carry a “rookie” driver in at least two free practices. Juri Vips is a member of Red Bull’s Junior Program and is currently competing in F2 from the High Tech Grand Prix.

However, Juri Vips has started a tough season and has sunk to ranking eight with just two podiums.

Yuri Ships will run the RB18 on behalf of Sergio Perez in the first free run of the F1 Spanish Grand Prix.

Red Bull Junior Team Liam Lawson (also in F2) plans to drive the Scuderia AlphaTauri at some point in 2022.

Williams F1 has already announced that Formula E champion Nyck de Vries will drive in his first free run on behalf of Alex Albon.

Nyck de Vries was a reserve driver for this year’s Mercedes F1 and was rumored to have a full-time conversion to F1 with Williams at the end of 2021. Eventually Williams decided to hire Alex Albon, and De Vries continues to participate in Formula E from Mercedes.

In addition, the Alfa Romeo F1 team announced that Robert Kubica will be appointed in place of Zhou Guanyu for the first free run. But given Kubica’s experience in F1, it doesn’t count as a requirement for this season’s “rookie”.
