Red Bull has indicated that it will continue its driver lineup for two teams, Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri, in 2022.
In sister team AlphaTauri, Pierre Guthrie is the clear lead driver and will definitely stay on the seats this season and beyond.
“We had lunch in Austria and talked a lot,” said Pierre Guthrie, looking back on his recent meeting with Red Bull F1 driver manager Helmut Marko.
“Given that I still have a few years contract with Red Bull, I’m glad I got a little better understanding of their vision and future plans.”
Regarding Pierre Guthrie’s teammate Yuki Tsunoda, Helmut Marko says he is confident that his recent move from Britain to Italy will pay off.
“It was a positive step,” Helmut Marko told RTL. “It will appear in some way from now on.”
In the senior team Red Bull Racing, it is clear that championship leader Max Verstappen will remain in 2022. The same is true for new teammate Sergio Perez.
Helmut Marko says the announcement is scheduled after the summer vacation in August.
“By then, we should be ready to announce both Red Bull and AlphaTauri driver pairs,” Helmut Marko said.
“In principle, I want to keep the existing pairing, but it takes time because I always consider all the relevant factors.”
