Red Bull F1, Liam Lawson appointed FP1 Rookie of the Abu Dhabi F1 GP[]

Red Bull Racing has announced that it will use Liam Lawson for the first free practice of the F1 Abu Dhabi GP.

From 2022, F1 teams will have to provide at least two free first practice drives for young drivers, intended for drivers with two grands prix experience or less.

Red Bull Racing is using Yuri Pips to replace Sergio Perez in the Spanish F1 GP. But Bips has not been closely linked to the F1 team after the racism scandal. Liam Lawson was then named as the new reserve driver.

In the F1 Abu Dhabi GP, Liam Lawson runs Max Verstappen’s RB18. Liam Lawson is responsible for two FP1 rookies for Scuderi AlphaTauri.

Liam Lawson will reportedly take part in Super Formula in Japan in 2023 while serving as a reserve driver for Red Bull and AlphaTauri, becoming Tomoki Nojiri’s teammate at TEAM MUGEN.
