Christian Horner, team representative for Red Bull F1, believes that this season’s Red Bull Honda F1 shows an “overall” advantage over Mercedes.
There are 22 races left in the 2021 F1 World Championship. Red Bull Honda F1 overtook Mercedes F1 by 5 points in the Constructors’Championship, and Max Verstappen led by 8 points in the Drivers’ Championship. There is still a chance to win both titles.
The last year Red Bull Racing won the double title four times in a row was 2013, and since then no team has been able to break the Mercedes stronghold.
Neither Red Bull Honda F1 nor Mercedes have been able to gain a dominant position this year, and each circuit is very close.
But Christian Horner is confident that Red Bull Honda F1 is ahead of Mercedes as a team.
When asked if he thinks the Red Bull Honda F1 is a better team than Mercedes, Christian Horner said, “Yes for the team. I think we are better. I think we have put together this challenge. I’ve won more races so far, “commented Channel 4.
“I was a little unlucky along the way, but has anyone put Mercedes in this position in the last seven years? They have never been in this position.”
“We are fighting, challenging and enjoying the competition anyway. If we can get it done in Abu Dhabi or manage to pull off one of the championships, it’s probably our greatest achievement. think”
The main problem with the Red Bull Honda F1 for the final two races is that Mercedes is gaining momentum. Lewis Hamilton has won two straight wins in the last two races and looked much faster than Max Verstappen.
Asked if Red Bull Honda F1 still thinks it can win the title, Christian Horner commented, “I still think we can.”
“We are currently in the final stages and are happy to be able to participate in the last two races.”
“The Jeddah circuit is fascinating. It feels like a high-speed Baku and will be interesting.”
“I think what really encouraged us in Qatar was that the Mercedes straight speed was in line with our car, which encourages us for the last two races.”
