Regarding the boy who was found dead at the estuary of the Han River yesterday, it was confirmed that the police are investigating the possibility of a child who had been washed away by a flood that occurred in North Korea.

It is said that at the time the body was discovered, the flow of the river also reversed from the north side to the south side.

Reporter Son Ha-neul covered it.

The body of a 1 meter and 15 centimeters tall boy was found in Jeuripogu at the estuary of the Han River.

A wave of 800 meters wide flows from the upper right of the screen to the lower left of the screen.

10 kilometers further and passing the Military Demarcation Line is North Korea.

However, after 10 a.m., it is clear that the river flows backwards from the downstream to the upstream.

According to the flow of the Han River, the float should move from the direction of Seoul on the right to North Korea on the left, but as you can see, the garbage is moving from North Korea to Seoul.

“Water coming down from North Korea and seawater, these come up together (back to back).”

On that day, Incheon Ganghwa Bridge was filled with seawater at high tide at 10:22 am.

As the water from the upper Han River and the river that was pushed back by seawater for about 2 hours were added, the water level in Jeuripogu rose even more around 12:00 noon.

It is the same time as yesterday when the child’s body was found.

“It’s the time for the water to come in, it’s the time for the high tide, so we’re working at that time. There’s a lot of meat at that time…”

The police also confirmed that the river water flowed backwards at the time, and that a large amount of water had flowed into the Han River estuary from the north due to the recent heavy rains.

Red shorts, the child’s only commodity, also emerged as a clue.

“I was working here in the middle yesterday, and (corpse) floated away. The red dress was just like a human shape.”

It was an old shorts with a rubber band at the waist, which is hard to find in Korea, but there was no manufacturer’s trademark or quality mark that was required to be attached.

The police believed that it may not be a domestic product, and requested a textile appraisal from the National Institute of Scientific Investigation and the Apparel Industry Association.

Relevant authorities are focusing on the possibility that the children who died in the North’s floods have been washed away, but they believe that it cannot be determined and are continuing investigations such as matching the missing children.
