Relatives demand justice for the death of a teenager in San Joaquin

Relatives, neighbors and friends of the adolescent Nelson Martínez, 15 years old, who allegedly died in a shootout with officials of the municipal police of San Joaquín, Carabobo state, protested and demanded that the authorities investigate what was related to the event that occurred on the afternoon of last Tuesday in the La Arenera sector.

The mother of the adolescent who identified herself as María Eugenia Athalido, narrated that her son and other people “They always went to the area where the alleged confrontation took place to look for scrap metal, because the guards allowed them to enter.”

He explained that the site had been abandoned for months and many people came to collect scrap metal.

“The police seek to change the history of the facts to justify the action, they are responsible for the death of my son”he assured.

THE COUNTERPART

According to the police version, several subjects were found in flagrante delicto, when they were stealing iron from a company in the El Ereigüe sector of San Joaquín and the police were notified by a guard, for which a commission moved to the place.

When they arrived, there was supposedly an exchange of shots in which Nelson Martínez was mortally wounded.

Cicpc experts are investigating the case in order to clarify the facts.
