Dangerous internet and DIS cables running over railway tracks have been cut and removed after a passenger on the roof of a train died after a cable strangled around his neck. On Saturday (August 12) afternoon, these wires were cut and separated from the level crossing area of Collegepara in the city.
Executive Magistrate and Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mosharof Hossain conducted the raid.
According to mobile court sources, the Titus commuter train bound for Akhaura leaving Dhaka at around 11:30 pm on Friday was crossing the level crossing area of Collegepara in the city. At that time, two passengers on the roof of the train fell from the moving train after getting tangled with the Internet and DIS cables passing over the railway line. One passenger died on the spot and another was injured.
After this incident, Executive Magistrate and Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mosharof Hossain reached the level crossing area of Collegepara along with members of Police, Fire Service and Electricity Department on Saturday afternoon. Later all the dangerous wires above the railway line in the level crossing area were cut and removed.
District Chhatra League president Rabiul Hossain Rubel was present during the cutting of these dangerous cables.
Executive Magistrate and Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Lands) Mosharf Hossain said that there are many dangerous wires on the railway line in the Lebel crossing area of Collegepara. People get on the train despite knowing the risk. The area is dangerous for passengers on top of the train as the wires are down. Hence the unnecessary wires in the level crossing area have been cut and removed. This will reduce the risk of death here. This campaign will continue.
