Robbery at five-star hotel; 2 crore worth of diamond jewelery looted | Theft | Jaipur

Jaipur: A complaint has been lodged that valuable diamond jewelery and money kept at a five-star hotel for a luxury wedding were stolen. The incident took place at Clarks Amer, a five-star hotel in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The diamond jewelery and cash worth Rs 2 crore were stolen. The jewelery and money were brought for the wedding of the daughter of Mumbai businessman Rahul Bhatia.

Rahul Bhatia and his family were staying in a room on the seventh floor of the hotel. The diamond jewelery and Rs 95,000 kept in the room were lost. At the time of the incident, the family was attending a wedding on the hotel’s lawn.

In his complaint to the police, Rahul Bhatia alleged that the theft would not have taken place without the knowledge of the hotel authorities. Indications are that CCTV footage showed the hotel employee giving the key to the room to the thief. According to the police, the thief came as a relative of the couple. The hotel staff was questioned.
