The Race of Champions (ROC) Nations Cup 2023 will take place on Saturday 28 January in Pitte Habsbad, Sweden, with the team of Petter Solberg and his son Oliver Solberg. Norway won again after last year.
On a purpose-built circuit of snow and ice just 100km from the Arctic Circle, Solberg and his son beat Team France and Team Sweden to reach the final and beat Thierry Neuville and Team All-Stars Felipe Dragovic for the second title in a row Achieved .
Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher’s Team Germany advanced to the semi-finals ahead of Jamie Chadwick and David Coulthard’s Team GB and Team eROC sim racers. However, Vettel’s false start in a heat with Team All-Stars ended Team Germany’s challenge.
Earlier in the day, Team Finland’s impressive F1 line-up of Valtteri Bottas and two-time F1 World Champion Mika Häkkinen fell to the eROC sim racers.
In the final, Thierry Neuville of Team All-Stars beat Petter Solberg in the Cupra to take the lead, but Oliver Solberg rallied by beating Felipe Dragovic in the second heat.
Unaccustomed to driving on thin ice, Aston Martin F1 reserve driver Felipe Dolgovic apparently lost out in the third heat to Petter Solberg, while Oliver Solberg held off Thierry Neuville’s challenge to take the team’s victory and secure Norway’s victory.
The individual Race of Champions will take place on Sunday, January 29th.
